Game ft. Justin Timberlake and Pharrell - Ain't No Doubt About It

Classic 2003 sounding Neptunes beat. Expect this to be a radio smash, even though it isn't that great of a song.

Omark, MPS make Team Sweden for LG Hockey Games

Coming off solid performances at the Swedish World Hockey Championships camp and in a few exhibition games, Oiler prospects Magnus Paajarvi-Svensson and Linus Omark have been named to Sweden's roster for the upcoming LG Hockey Games in Stockholm. Here is the rest of the Swedish roster:

Goalkeepers: Jacob Markström (FLA), Anders Lindbäck, Jonas Gustavsson (TOR)

Defense: Oliver Ekman-Larsson (Phoenix), Christian Bäckman, Magnus Johansson, David Rundblad (STL), Sanny Lindström, Johan Fransson, Carl Gunnarsson (TOR), Victor Hedman (TBL)

Forwards: Linus Omark (EDM), Johan Harju (TBL), Mattias Weinhandl, Andreas Engqvist, Marcus Nilson, Tony Martensson, Fredrik Pettersson, Jammie Ericsson, Magnus Pääjärvi-Svensson (EDM), Michael Nylander, Niklas Persson, Jonas Andersson, Nicklas Bergfors (ATL), Rickard Wallin (TOR

For Omark, it's a return to a tournament he dominated last year - showing to us in North America he was legitimately ready to compete and produce against NHL talent. I also believe it was the site for his famous shootout goal where he sent a rainbow shot over a Swiss goalie's shoulder. With his solid performance last year, he was able to cement a spot on Sweden's WHC roster - a huge step in his development.

For Paajarvi, it's an incredible accolade for a 19-year old prospect - and he's earned it with his play in the exhibition games. If he shines, he should see himself on the WHC roster come the end of the tournament - an opportunity to play at a level featuring a higher quantity and quality of NHL talents - yet another chance for him to prove himself - and show Tambellini he may be ready to come over.

Janti Dhaliwal is a closet Canucks fan

To E-Town's Greatest readers,

It grieves me to inform you that so-called "Oilers fan" Janti Dhaliwal is in fact cheering for the VANCOUVER CANUCKS. That's right - this bandwagoner is now a Canucklehead. Fuck his suicidal life. This is what happens when you get bullied around by human stinkbombs.

We'd like to apologize for this treacherous act on behalf of a E-Town's Greatest staff member.

Sincerely,

E-Town's Greatest Staff.

Penalties and England - World Cup Preview

I really believe the England coaches shouldnt listen to penis face Andy Townsend and Jamie Barksdale about penalties, who keep saying you cant practice peno's. Yes you can, its the same as free kicks, Beckham did that for hours and hours and he got results. Same as doing corners and set pieces. Penalties are set pieces, you need practice and practice them, get them right and you will carry that confidence into the shoot-out. Had Southgate practiced penalties for an hour a day after training we would be in the final.

Its very simple, practice makes perfect. Its an ignorant statement by ex-pros who say you cant practice penalties, these are the same pros who are constantly gobsmacked by amazing passes and superior skills by Ronaldinho, Messi and Xavi, who would have thought u could do the flip-flop skill 10 years ago??

Football in England needs to change, stop being narrow minded!! We haven't won anything since 66.

We wont win this world cup because Capello is just shit!!

There i said it, he is shit. He picked up the same thing Mclaren did, Rooney playing off Heskey. Heskey is shit, I come from Leicester, Heskey is shit. I don't care if he changes Rooneys adult nappies at night and cuddles him from nightmares. He is shit. Zamora is amazing right now, take him. You take players on form and playing in Europe. Zamora is playing in Europe and seems to have learnt a lot from Hodgson.

Everyone knows how we play, Spain destroyed us and so did Brazil. If we cant beat them, we cant win the World cup. We are still a pass around defence-midfield team, we dont take chances or create enough to worry other teams.

Terry is finished, he will get raped by fast paced strikers in the World Cup, there wont be any Chelsea friendly referees in the World Cup. Rio is also done. Just look what Defoe did to Terry. With Rio unable to make any sharp turns because of his back injury we are screwed.

Capello should take these friendlies coming up and use new young defenders and play with a fast paced midfield, who can close down players - look what Barcelona did to Arsenal. Ok so its slightly harder than that but we should have been doing that a lot earlier.

Play Zamora and Rooney upfront, Walcott as a third striker cutting in, Young on the other side, Gerrard and Barry/Lampard. Have the back four as cole, terry?Rio? and Johnson.

Thats the best we have for now, more holes in that team then a french cafe with Ribery and friends - See this

Post World Cup - Capello goes, he brings nothing new to this England team. You need someone with some creative thought, Gus Hiddink would have been great, Turkey got him. Marco Van Basten? Franks Rijkard? Once this World cup is over, I think Rio,Gerrard,Terry,Cole,Lampard,J Cole,Heskey should all leave the squad. They wont be there for the next one and I see no point in them being there for the next Euro's. We start with a brand new squad, all youngsters and get them playing against the best and so what if we lose a couple matches with these young lions??

My squad for after the World Cup -

Hart, Green, Gibbs,Cahill, Taylor,Richards, Mancienne,Rodwell,Cattermole,Wilshere,Gosling,Rooney,Walcott,Young,Lennon,Gabby Abag,Dawson and others.

That's a fucking start, lets do something amazing, lets get a FUCKING academy!!! We spent 750 millions pounds on a stadium that has had the playing pitch replaced like 11 times since 2007. Horrible. Fat Cats in the English FA have ruined football, no academy like the one seen in Spain/France will mean we will never win the World Cup.

I hate to be a little shit about our prospects, but its true. We have spent too much on a manager who has changed nothing and brought nothing new to our team. Mark my words, we will fail in the World Cup - my tip for the world cup - Spain followed by Brazil followed by Holland.

Peace

Stu MacGregor may be dropping hints...

I read through the Edmonton Journal's recent write-up on Oilers Head Scout Stu MacGregor. It was pretty informative - talking about his role in the selection process, how the scouting team was preparing for this draft, and how they were planning to select prospects.

One of the more notable points for me was made when MacGregor was asked about choosing between Taylor Hall and Tyler Seguin with the 1st overall pick. This was what he said:
"You just want to try and get the one who's going to be best for your organization and the one who's going to be the best over the long term because players can be great one year and maybe not as good as they move along through their career.
"Scouting is projection and you want to try and get the best guy over the long term."

When it comes to Tyler Seguin, most scouts point to his mere two seasons of OHL experience and suggest he has a higher overall ceiling than Hall. His inexperience makes it likely he won't enjoy as much early success as Hall to begin his career, but it's agreed that with 1-2 years of solid development he will be the better player.

From MacGregor's comments, he seems to be emphasizing the long-term aspect of the selection, more so than other GM's have in the past. He may be warming up the fan base to the thought of picking Seguin. He seems pretty committed to picking the better player in the long-term - and to me that sounds like Tyler Seguin.

The only potential catch is when he said "players can be great one year and maybe not as good as they move along in their career". Seguin's "break-out season" came this past 2009-2010 season, where he tied Hall with 106 points to win the OHL scoring race. Some point to his 67-point rookie year in the OHL and say this recent season is a flash in the pan for the young center, but I say otherwise. For the last 2 months of the 2008-2009 OHL season, Seguin was one of the hotter players in the OHL - a trend that continued in the playoffs that year when he led the Plymouth Whalers into the second round with an inspired offensive performance.

Is MPS Coming?

When Oilers 2010 2nd round pick Anton Lander signed an extension with Timra, his Swedish Elite League team, two weeks ago, it became mass-consensus that his teammate and friend, 2010 1st rounder Magnus Paajarvi-Svensson, would follow suit. It made sense, seeing as how most Swedish prospects, even the most high-profile ones, seem to undergo 1-2 years of post-draft development in the SEL before deciding to come over. Even 100-point man Nicklas Backstrom played as a 19-year old in the SEL before coming over.

Well this Swedish article seems to suggest otherwise. Here are some excerpts:

Pääjärvis father and agent Gunnar Svensson: "We still have not received an answer as to how [The Oilers] look at Magnus for next season"
Gunnar Svensson is in regular contact with Tambellini and thinks he isn't being clear enough. "A bit like the article in Edmonton Journal, where he says he wants the Timra players, but doesn't give a straightforward answer about when he wants to see if they are ready".
"Slowly but surely it has become obvious they want him there, but we have not received a clear answer," says Svensson about the situation with Pääjärvi. "I will contact Tambellini in the coming days. We want also to be able to give notice to Timra".
Svensson hopes that the Edmonton Oilers will become clear about the matter.
"Magnus is willing to wait for a few weeks. If they say they have a plan set up for him if he comes over, he'll go over. If there's a clear indication then he'll leave."

Looks like there hasn't been any real fluid discussion between the two parties early in the off-season. I think it's a major problem for Tambellini if the majority of conversation between him and his European prospects' agents is happening through news outlets - there's so much room for misinterpretations that way. I remember similar things happening with Linus Omark and his agent last year.

Overall, I think Gunnar Svensson wants to see his son come over ASAP, but only if the Oilers have a legitimate developmental plan set up for him. He's taking a legitimate interest in how the Oilers plan on handling Magnus, which may seem like meddling to some - but he is the agent. He has a legitimate reason to worry - the Oilers have a history of ruining prospects with mismanagement. If he gets a concise answer from Tambellini as to the path the Oilers plan on taking with MPS if he comes over this year, I think Gunnar and Magnus will come to a decision as to whether it would be better for him to stay in Sweden one more year or come over. Either way, it should be interesting to see if Magnus decides to make the move over.

I personally don't know who I'd be more excited to see in Oilers' silks next year - MPS or one of Hall/Seguin - both players will have amazing pedigree, potential, and opportunity. By the way, those fretting about having Paajarvi-Svensson fit on an NHL jersey need not worry - Magnus plans to go with "Paajarvi" on his jersey when he comes over.

Eberle Makes Team Canada

News comes today from Bob Mackenzie that Oilers prospect Jordan Eberle has been named to Team Canada for the upcoming World Hockey Championships. The 19-year old Eberle becomes the first non-NHLer to make the squad since Jonathon Toews did it at age 19 in 2007.

He'll start off on the taxi squad, but is sure to get some in-game experience early in the round-robin or preliminaries. Either way - bodes well for the Oilers. So far, we have Magnus Paajarvi-Svensson, Anton Lander, and Linus Omark on the Swedish roster, while Taylor Chorney and Ryan Potulny cracked Team USA.

Out With a Bang

NY 113 - TOR 131
40-42
9th in the East

Seeing as how Chicago wrapped up with a win against Charlotte, the Raptors are out of the playoffs for the second season in a row as I'm sure you're familiar with the story by now. There wasn't much to take away from this game, as it was a dunk-a-thon for Toronto and a shootout for the Knicks (15-33 3PM/A). I guess there were a few notables from this game. I believe Toronto set a franchise record for regulation points, and DeRozan set his career high in points at 24. But as it turns out, Sunday's loss is essentially the difference between Chicago and Toronto.

Basically, the franchise is stuck waiting for July 1 to roll around (is that the date for UFA's to begin signings? Or was it June 1? Whatever). I'll probably try and do a postmortem on the season that was, but for now I guess it'll end with a collection of the highs that the season gave.

Paajarvi-Svensson and Omark score beauty shootout goals in Swedish win

Man oh man are things going well for the Oilers' Swedish prospects. Not only did Linus Omark, Magnus Paajarvi-Svensson, and Anton Lander both make it - they were arguably among Sweden's best 5 players in their first exhibition game against the Swiss.

Check out the shootout - where MPS and Omark both score a couple of beauties.

Sheeiiiiiiitttt...YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST

The street single from Game's upcoming R.E.D. Album has LEAKED. It's titled "It Must Be Me" produced by The Neptunes. The beat is menacing, and Pharrell is on the hook.

The radio single is "Ain't No Doubt About It" ft Justin Timberlake and Pharrell, also produced by the Neptunes. That one is most likely going to leak soon.

Silent Stan Strikes Again

To my all Premier League fans, which include 1 so far, Sangram. It seems that Silent Stan aka Stan Kroenke, has decided unofficially not to buy more shares in Arsenal and trigger a takeover bid. This comes as fresh news from my google reader,as Stan opted against what most people thought he would do, which was to sell his remaining 40% share in St.Louis Rams and take his money to Arsenal and buy a majority controlling stake, instead Stan has decided to reject the offer and triggered the RIGHT TO MATCH OFFER in his contract. Therefore matching the offer of the businessman Shahid Khan for the 100% control of the club, Stan owes 40%, Chip Rosenbloom and Lucia Rodriguez own 60%. If the deal goes through he will own 100% of the St.Louis Rams.

I hear some hardcore hockey fans saying "what, what", in the butt?? no man can own both NFL and NHL clubs, that is against the rules, you are right in thinking in so. I know nothing about hockey and I do not care. I care only for Arsenal and therefore this news displeases me, I wanted Stan to take over my club, not because he is a billionaire and has a moustache that has its own driving licence, but for the simple fact its better than having Alisher Usmanov buying the other shares, Usmanov kills journalists!!! Come on, he is Russian, that's what all Russian billionaires do.

Anyway, the tale took a twist way before this news got to me. Lady Nina Bracewell Smith decided to sell 15.9% of her beloved shares at an auction. So here I am thinking, right Stan, take the offer from Khan, buy Nina's shares and take Arsenal over. None of this happened, Nina hasn't found a buyer and most probably won't, as Arsenal shareholders don't get a dividend from the football club. A very smart move, keeps the money in the club and anyone that wants to buy in, must be a serious long term investor.

So Arsenal have 29.9% owned by Stan, 28 (I think) by Usmanov and the rest is collectively owned by individuals. You need 30% to trigger a takeover bid, 50% to gain control, if you trigger a takeover bid you must state your intentions of whether you want to buy the club or not, and then restate again after a year. Stan I can sadly see not buying the club in the meantime. I think he will buy upto 60% of the St.Louis Rams and sell that to Khan for a higher price.

I thought maybe Stan would buy the club next year in 2011, as this year we reduced our debt from 330 million to 203 million in one year. Next year I think the debt will be around 150 million, not a lot of debt, considering the Man Utd have 700 million and are completely broke because the Glazers are horrible at doing business. I guess with Lady Nina selling her shares, we might have a third billionaire buying into the club.

Take Care.

Oilers Management Gets Slapped in the Face: Souray Demands Trade

One of the more well-respected and prominent NHL players of the last five years, Sheldon Souray, has apparently played his last game as an Edmonton Oiler. In this Rogers Sportsnet exclusive, he makes it explicitly clear he's done with the Oilers organization - and goes out of his way to say it's not the fault of the fans or the city.

At this point you got to wonder why Lowe and Tambellini keep getting free passes here. We're an organization that has seen ridiculous turn-over since the lockout - yet the results seem to be the same, regardless of who is donning the jersey. At some point you got to stop pointing fingers at the locker room and start pointing up at the head offices. The Lowe promotion to President of Hockey Operations in 2008 was a shock given the Oilers struggles, and apparently Tambellini seems to be continuing the cycle of terrible management.

There were many errors on their parts:
1) Forcing a player to play when he is injured
2) Not providing the kind of support and care for a player/asset that other reputable franchises would
3) Giving players the "silent treatment" when they are injured.

All I can say is, do you think Ken Holland in Detroit or Ted Leonsis in Washington would be doing these same things? It's disgusting to think these guys are representing our city and team at the NHL level.

Excuse Me...I Must Go Shoot Myself in the Face

CHI 104 - TOR 88
38-42

I think this will pretty much sum up Sunday's game from my perspective.

Songs of the Week: Clipse - Eyes on Me and Jay-Z - City is Mine

I decided to put up 2 SOTW today, cause I've had these two songs bangin' non stop all week. Jas is bound to like the Clipse shout-out.

Rapper Game is an Idiot

So Game's long awaited The R.E.D. Album finally has a release date. The Compton MC’s fourth LP is scheduled to drop June 15. That is the same day that Drake is releasing his debut album Thank Me Later...hence Game is an idiot. Why would you go up against a dude who's jock is ridden by every demographic. That's not it...it get's worse. Look at the features on his album...

Sweet Justice

TOR 101 - ATL 107
38-41

Raptors lose, Bosh is leaving, you know the deal at this point. Tell you what though, this relatively rag tag bunch of players is not doing as bad as I thought. As always, they are lacking consistency. But you know, for stretches of this game they did manage to keep themselves competing with Atlanta. Granted, when they began to slip they slipped hard but at least they aren't getting completely blown out and have been showing fight in these last few games.

But on to the better story. Nets beat the Bulls. Justice is served. After getting the luxury of playing the Cavaliers without LeBron, the Bulls lost to the Nets in double overtime. With both teams sitting at 38-41, Sunday's game is literally the biggest game of the season and will practically decide who is that eighth seed. For the record, I do want Toronto in the playoffs because I just want to see playoff basketball again. That's it, no other reason.

So to summarize, Raptors suck, Bulls lose to Nets, Sunday game = big. I get it, you got it and we'll all wait for Sunday. I am excited for this game, to say the least. If I had to express myself on this game, I'd have to quote Saurash and go with..."hee hee hee".

Thursday, April 8, 2010

Well...Shit

BOS 115 - TOR 104
38-40

So...yeah. If you've already seen the last two games, there isn't much else to say or much else to read. To help you skim through this post faster, I'll use the power of youtube to sum it up in a quick video.

That feels about right. I'm sure you've already heard it a dozen times by now, but Bosh has had surgery on his face and will take 7-10 days just to recover, after which he's scheduled to be evaluated. I haven't heard much on Hedo. I believe all that they've let out so far is that he was taken to the hospital for a scan.

Well, it was a good game. Toronto stuck with Boston closer than what the final score would suggest. They were even up by two at the half. Unfortunately in a game against the Celtics, the Raptors were broken by...Michael Finley? Yes, scoring 11 points and hitting three 3's, Michael Finley broke the game open hitting daggers, daggers, and more daggers.

The most troubling part of this little stretch so far has definitely been Bargnani's decline. He's now 20-59 (33.9%) from the field in the last three games. The shots he has been making have been in the paint, so it wouldn't be a surprise to anyone if they look to get Bargnani started on the inside against Atlanta. Adding more problems to the mix is Calderon, who has shot a timid 5-19 in the last three games. Luckily for him though, Jack has been able to come in and provide productivity at the point.

Not sure what else I can add to the discussion. Two starters are mired in slumps, and Hedo is an unknown at this point in time. It will not come as a shock if Bargnani is injured in the next game. Well, if you want to be extremely optimistic, if the Raptors make the playoffs Bosh will be well rested?

E-Town's Greatest Has an Enemy

So I was sitting here in my room studying when Saurash sent me a URL to a Vibe.com link. He was jizzing his pants, so I clicked to see what all of the fuss was about. The link took me to a Vibe.com article that had a descriptive sneak peak at several Detox tracks. It included lyrics, beat description, who was featured where, and song titles. Apparently Interscope had given Vibe.com a preview of the long awaited album. As I read more and more, my excitement grew. The release of this album would be such a historical moment. 10 years in the making. As I got to the bottom of the article, and saw ''APRIL FOOLS!!!!!", I collapsed and jumped out of my window.

Here is the link:

Drum and Bass Music...listen to this :O

My friend Radhika recently sent me a link to this song. I've never been a huge fan of Drum and Bass music, but this song swayed me. Probably the most intensely relaxing songs I've heard in a while. The hard drum beat mixed with the slow vocals is just wowwwwwwwww. So serene.

IPAD JAILBREAK

After a day of its release, the Apple iPad has already been jailbroken. MuscleNerd, member of iPhone Dev-Team revealed on his website that he has already jailbroken the iPad. This new hack is a port of Comex's "Spirit" jailbreak that exploits a bug found on both iPhone OS 3.1.3 and the iPad's 3.2. No downloads are offered right at this moment, but it shouldn't be long before we can throw in all sorts of wild apps and widgets as we wish.

From the good Doctor himself: "Detox will drop in 2010"

Within days of announcing an upcoming collaboration with Jay-Z on a new single, Dr. Dre made the announcement everyone has been waiting years to hear - the legendary Detox album is set to be released this upcoming year.

Mention of Detox first emerged in early 2000, when talks of a follow-up to the critically-acclaimed 2001 began to brew. Apparently the album was near-finish in 2004, when Dre, the perfectionist he is, scrapped all the beats he had produced for it, giving them to emerging rappers 50 Cent and The Game instead. Interviews over the past 2-3 years have featured Dre saying he had been working on the album, each time speculating an upcoming release. However, production on albums by Aftermath rappers has delayed him. But with the recent announcement made during an CNBC interview in which he postulated the album would be dropped before the end of the year, excitement is definitely starting to grow among hip hop fans. This could definitely be the biggest album in 2-3 years - and probably the most anticipated one of all time (in hip hop circles).

A single featuring Jay-Z is slated to be released within the next 2 weeks, and is bound to be a great way to generate mass-interest in the album, and if speculated rumors of collaborations with old friends Snoop Dogg, Eminem, The Game, Nas, and Nate Dogg are true, you're bound to have some sure-fire hits. Adding to the excitement is word that some of the more contemporary stars - Drake, T.I, and Ludacris among them - are bound to be featured as well.

Oilers sign Linus Omark and Chris Vandevelde

Steve Tambellini seems like he's focused on giving the Oilers' young prospects legitimate chances to play in the NHL. A week after moving Eberle into the AHL and signing college stand-out Jeff Petry, the Edmonton GM signed Swedish Youtube sensation Linus Omark to a two-way 2-year deal with a unique European out-clause after one year. Omark will come to training camp in September, and has apparently agreed to a demotion to the AHL if he fails to make the team. Although he was reported as 5'9, 168 lb when drafted as a 20-year old in 2007, Omark is now listed at 5'11, 186 lb. He's not huge, but he's definitely big enough for someone with his speed and elusiveness to have his skill translate into NHL success.  It'll be interesting to see if he can adjust his game to the NHL style, and develop into a mini-Kane or St. Louis.

On the same day the Oil signed Omark, they also moved to sign recent UND Fighting Sioux graduate Chris Vandevelde, who was the team's offensive leader this past season. Vandevelde will report to the AHL immediately, and could compete for a bottom-6 role next year at training camp. He's a big 6'2 210 lb center, with solid speed for his size and a beast on faceoffs. With the recent speculation that 2007 1st rounder Riley Nash may not sign with the Oilers, Vandevelde is quite the consolation prize. He's arguably a better prospect than Nash, and could be our 3rd line center of the future. He's sure got the physicality and strong 2-way play to make a case for it. Overall, it's good to see these two signed heading forward, and it should generate much interest heading into training camp next season.

N*E*R*D is Submitting a World Cup Anthem

From MTV.com

Pharrell Williams has revealed that N*E*R*D have written a song for this year's football World Cup in South Africa. The rapper, who is a fan of the game, is hopeful that organisers will select the track for the tournament.

"We have submitted a track to FIFA which will hopefully be chosen as the official anthem,” he told The Sun newspaper. "I follow football a little bit - it would be great if it happens."

Williams, who performed a secret gig in London earlier this week, added that he knew David Beckham through his a mutual jeweller.

This will be so elite if it happens. Even if their song doesn't make it as the official anthem, I hope it leaks. It's probably dope as hell. This just adds to the vast amount of good news for music lately.

Song of the Week: Nas feat. The Game - Hustlers

When Dr. Dre, The Game, and Nas get together, you know you're bound to get something dope. Here it is.

Rap Dream Duo Confirmed

Just when you thought Detox was something to forget about, out comes the announcement that Jay-Z and Dr. Dre, arguably the top rapper and producer in the game, respectively, have collaborated on a new track set to be featured on the much-anticipated Detox album. The picture featured above shows the two 40-something's in Dre's studio, recording the track.

They even featured a snippet of the song (presumably the intro) on this website, take a listen.

Kind of pointless when all you hear is one little "boop" at the end. But still, epic intro. And I'm suddenly back on the Detox bandwagon again, yearning for a release.

*Shout-out to Papan Ghinger aka "Big Poppin" for finding this link.

A Lesson on Stereotypes

Yeah, yeah, Raptors blow 17-point lead. Barely win in OT. Bosh is leaving, Hedo sucks, Bargnani is a bust, Jose sucks at defence. It was a pretty boring game, despite it going to OT. Which is why I am too lazy to write a summary about the game. So instead I'm going to write something completely stupid about something completely stupid. From my friends over at Cambridge:

stereotype
noun
/ˈster.i.ə.taɪp/ n [C] disapproving
a fixed idea that people have about what someone or something is like, especially an idea that is wrong

Now, call me an ass if you like, but there is a reason why stereotypes exist. Because there are truths to them. Chinese people do generally suck at driving. Rednecks are typically ridiculously ignorant. And women's basketball sucks so much more than men's basketball. Ok, that last one wasn't really a stereotype, just a truth. Just jokes ladies. Jokes. Just kidding. Sorta. Ahem.

Anyway, back to the lesson at hand. Stereotypes. In the last 5-ish years, video games have become more mainstream and less of a "nerd" activity. And as much as I hate the thing, the Wii has pretty much led the charge for introducing video games to a broad audience beyond the "traditional" 14-30 year old males. Granted, that was a pretty big audience before, but the Wii's sales numbers show the difference between having one group, and selling to the entire population.

Wait, what was I talking about? Oh yeah. Despite all this junk I just talked about with the expansion of the market base and all that jazz, you know what hasn't changed? The stereotype of the horny young adult/teen male gamer nerd. I don't think I really need to explain beyond that. Stereotypes persist because of the fact that there are still many persons that exist who perpetuate the idea. And so, I bring you to the latest in stereotype perpetuation.

The latest "genius" idea. Gamecrush. I am not joking.

Let me give you the basics of this website. You pay -with real money- to select a random-ass girl that you will never ever meet...to play fucking video games with you. By the way, click on that link. If you're too lazy to do that, I'll tell you what you're treated to.

"The GameCrush Public Beta is temporarily unavailable due to the incredible user response. We are adding new servers to provide players with the best PlayDate experience possible. Games with GameCrush PlayDates start at $6.60 for ten minutes."

Are you serious? This is not a late April Fools joke. Don't get me wrong, it's honestly absolutely genius as a business. I mean they don't even really pay to act as server host on the games since that's already been taken care of by Xbox Live (ok, they would have to pay about $60/year to use XBL, which is less than 20 cents a day. They obviously still have to pay for server costs to facilitate their own website). Seriously fellas, buy a hooker. Hell, you do not even have to have sex with a hooker. Give the hooker $20 and I'm sure she'll be more than happy to waste some time to help you pwn sum nubz on them vidya games. It is embarrassing to think about just how true stereotypes are sometimes.

(By the way, I totally only checked out that site just to do research for this post.)

P.S. Raptors are set to sign some random-ass bum named Joey Dorsey. He's about six foot nine and...that's all I've got. No idea who he is. He's not eligible for the playoffs. Supposedly, the contract is only guaranteed to pay him to basically get him into the summer league and that's it. No financial obligations after that.

I'm on his jock like Kevin is on the Raptors'

Michael Ballack. German God. Will finally get a World Cup this year. Sheeeit. *Fingers crossed*
